Bird's Nest Nursery Curriculum

Birds Nest Nursery is a play-based learning curriculum developed from the child’s interests and developmental abilities. Our philosophy has been inspired by Reggio Emilia, Waldorf, and Montessori learning philosophies. There will be little to no use of; television, cell phones, computers, or electronics. Much of our materials will be open-ended play, inspired by nature and natural materials.

What is Included in Our Daycare Program

At Bird’s Nest Nursery, we provide a comprehensive childcare experience designed to support the well-being and development of every child. Our services include:

Daily Care

Personalized attention and support throughout the day, including feeding, diapering, and nap times.

Each day begins with a greeting during drop-off and sign-in. We use Bright Wheel, a childcare-specific app, to ensure seamless communication between parents and caregivers. We set our schedules weekly and around the weather and children’s interests.

Birds Nest Nursery is ideally located within walking distance of a nearby creek, Bicentennial Park, the Sonoma County Children’s Museum, and more. Any trips we take parents will be notified before hand.

Educational Programs

Structured learning activities tailored to each age group that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Our educational program is based on the interests and abilities of the child. I have created an environment that encourages the child to engage with materials around them and nature.

While exploring nature, we encourage children to learn from the world around them. We will spend much of the day outdoors, gardening, caring for animals, playing with
natural materials, and bringing nature indoors. We integrate basic pre-k education as interests grow with your child.

Healthy Meals and Snacks

Nutritious meals and snacks that are prepared to meet dietary needs and encourage healthy eating habits.

Birds Nest Nursery is a part of the 4 C’s Food Program and will be providing families with Breakfast, AM Snack, Lunch, PM Snack, and Evening Snack. Food eaten on-site will meet the requirements of the 4 C’s program and will be healthy and full of variety.

Water will be available to children at all times, a water jug will be available in the classroom and outdoors, and your child will be given a cup with their name written on it that they can fill and drink from throughout the day. Children will be reminded to drink from their cups throughout the day and at snack and meal times. If your child has dietary restrictions please let us know as soon as possible.

Safe Environment

A secure and clean facility with safety measures in place to ensure a safe and welcoming space for children.

At Birds Nest Nursery, the safety of your child is our top priority. We treat each child as if they were our own. Our facility is equipped with state-of-the-art security systems, and our staff undergoes regular training in safety procedures, first aid, and emergency preparedness. We maintain strict child-to-staff ratios to ensure close supervision at all times.

Additionally, we conduct daily safety checks of our indoor and outdoor spaces to eliminate potential hazards. Our commitment to safety allows parents to feel confident that their child is in safe, caring hands while in our care.
